♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠
I’m ready to run, wanting to hide
From this fear I feel deep inside.

A fear of not knowing
If I’m coming or going

A fear of not having arms strong and tight
Wrapped around me, keeping me safe thru the night.

A fear of not hearing sweet whispered words
Nothing is spoken, so nothing is heard

A fear of no one special in my life
Stings like a slap, cuts like a knife

♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠
I’m ready to run, ready to hide
Because of the fear buried inside

A fear of not knowing
Whether you’re coming or going

A fear of losing my heart yet again,
Not ever knowing the where or the when

A fear of speaking the words in my heart
That seek your forgiveness, the chance to restart

A fear of saying those sweet words to you
Because I was mean, hurtful, and cruel

♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠
The need to run, the need to hide
Is simply the fear of what I feel inside

That feeling of not knowing
If we’re coming or going

That feeling of wanting what’s just beyond reach
That perfect one, like a sweet tasty peach

That feeling of lonliness, like the bitter cold
That can be changed if one dares to be bold

That feeling of hope and happiness when I say those sweet words to you
For when I say “I love you” you can always believe it’s true.

  1. This is so so beautiful! I can really feel the sense of fear in your words. I actually just published a piece yesterday on the necessity of facing one’s fears and battling the need to control every aspect of our lives… feel free to check it out 🙂

    • Thank you very much. It’s nice to finally get some feedback on my poetry. I’ve shared my journal filled with my work with friends expecting them to actually be critical. They all said the same thing…”Really Nice”.
I tried to find the piece you mentioned. I would be eternally grateful if you’d supply me a link to the piece you mentioned I should read!! I’ve elected to follow you so I will get future posts you make.
I just downloaded the WP iOS app & tho’t maybe I’d add more of my poetry. I’ve one I’m about to add, Bitchy Old Crone, that I believe you’ll really enjoy. PLEASE follow me for future entries.
